LAHORE – Pakistan tennis ace Aisam Qureshi and Austria’s Oliver Marach defeated Lyod Harris of South Africa and A Popyrin of Canada in a thriller of more than two hours with to reach the third round of the Wimbledon.
The Pakistan-Austria duo played great game against their young and upcoming exceptionally tall South Africa-Canada duo with a score of 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-3. Aisam/Marach though struggled very hard against their opponents in the first set, yet they managed to take it 7-6(6). Harris/Popyrin bounced back in great style by displaying quality tennis skills and shots, which helped them win the second set 6-3. The Pak-Austrian pair also made a strong comeback in the third set, where they put their opponents under tremendous pressure, thus succeeded in winning the set 6-3 and also booked berth in the last 16 of the Grand Slam event. Former Davis Cupper and coach of Aisam congratulated the Pakistan tennis ace and wished him good luck for the next matches. Now in third round, Aisam/Marach will face the Spanish/Argentinian pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
