CCPO seeks joint efforts for better policing


LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said that police and prosecutors can work together to improve coordination and effectiveness in the investigation and prosecution to ensure convictions of criminals in the courts as both sides understand and respect each other’s responsibilities in criminal procedures. The CCPO stated these remarks while presiding over a meeting of prosecutors and police officers here on Saturday.

Prosecutor General Punjab Rai Mushtaq, Public Prosecutor General, District Public Prosecutor General, Special Prosecutor General Anti Terrorist Court, SSP CIA, SSP Investigation, and all SSPs of Investigation and Operations Wings of Lahore Police were present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed joint line of action for police and prosecutors to improve the ratio of convictions of the criminals in courts as police seek full legal support from the prosecutors with a view to sustain successful prosecutions.

Ghulam Mahmood Dogar stressed upon the need to enhance the effectiveness in the collaboration and working relationship between Lahore police and the public prosecutors. Commander Lahore Police said prosecutors are highly qualified legal brains and their guidance to police during investigation process is sine qua non for civilized and democratic societies. 

Police and prosecutors have been getting more and more mutually dependent due to increasing complexity, multitude and other challenges of crime emerging in modern days, Ghulam Mahmood Dogar added. He directed to hold regular meetings on weekly basis between the divisional prosecutors and SsP to ensure completion of pending matters in given timeline. Criminals can not save themselves from convictions if investigation is done in time and on merit. Prosecutor General Punjab assured CCPO Lahore complete cooperation from Prosecution department to ensure provision of timely justice to the victims of crime through improved mutual coordination and cooperation by both side.
